On Tuesday June 1st 2010 Circus Starr launched as a Social Enterprise and joined The Social Enterprise Coalition.
Social enterprises are businesses trading for social and environmental purposes. Social enterprises are distinctive because their social and/or environmental purpose is absolutely central to what they do - their profits are reinvested to sustain and further their mission for positive change. 

Becoming a Social Enterprise underpins what Circus Starr has been doing over the last two decades and we feel this is a very positive move for the future. As part of the launch, Circus Starr also became a member of The Social Enterprise Coalition.

The Social Enterprise Coalition is the UK's national body for social enterprise. Established in 2002, the Coalition represents a wide range of social enterprises, umbrella bodies and networks, with a combined membership reaching more than 10,000 social enterprises.

Circus Starr joins other Social Enterprises such as The Big Issue and Jamie Oliver’s restaurant 15, with social and community purpose being at the very heart of what we do.

Neville Wilson Circus Starr Director comments on the launch ““I am absolutely delighted that Circus Starr has become a member of Social Enterprise Coalition which will benefit our efforts to raise funds for the charities we support in the UK. Our partner charities provide a service to the community and are not always given the exposure and help they deserve and need. The strength of Circus Starr is that we are able to offer a fund raising facility for the charity without them having to contribute valuable time and effort to the event.”
