On Tuesday 1st June 2010 Circus Starr was very proud to launch as a Social Enterprise and become a member of The Social Enterprise Coalition.
This underpins what Circus Starr as a company has been doing for over the last 23 years - raising the profiles of local and vital charities and donating tickets to these local communities, through the art of circus.
Like other Social Enterprises such as The Big Issue and Jamie Oliver’s restaurant 15, social and community purpose is at the very heart of Circus Starr.
Circus Starr’s unique ethos is to raise thousands of pounds for local charities from the advance sales of tickets to local businesses. These tickets can then be donated to local community groups who otherwise would not get the chance to enjoy the magic of circus.
With this kind support from local businesses, in 2009 Circus Starr donated over £744,845 worth of tickets to UK communities and we are dedicated to beating this target in 2010.
Our magical circus contains a mix of top-flight acrobatics, breathtaking balancing and non-stop comedy, which performs to audiences of all ages in more than 75 towns and cities in England, Scotland and Wales each year.
We continue to work with over 70 local charities in the UK each year, in particular raising funds for hospices and hospitals.
